Party by the Pool

Many of our customers choose to have a holiday or wintertime party out by their pool in the colder months. The pool area can be a gorgeous backdrop for an afternoon get together. Those who have a pool heater will want to make sure it’s turned on, and the pool sufficiently warmed if they plan to have swimming during their party. Here are some tips to make a cold-weather party out by the pool more enjoyable:

Give guests notice

Make sure the invitation includes a clear indication that the party will be outdoors. Even with that, a specific portion of your home should be made ready for guests who either don’t want to be outdoors or are forced indoors by inclement weather. Even beautiful sunny days require sunblock, so make sure to have plenty available, as well as umbrellas or other shaded areas.

Activities

Those who are in the pool or hot tub will already be occupied, but those who aren’t will need something to do. The most manageable plan is to have both sedentary and more physical activities. Cards, checkers, and board games, along with frisbees, dancing, or other sports, will keep the party rolling. We know if a family who set up and area for drip painting.

Comfort considerations

Make sure that there is adequate seating, tables, and other comforts for all of the guests. If there is a question that it may be too cold, you can rent or buy an outdoor heater. Some people use a fire pit, chiminea, or other heat sources. The goal is to make sure they offer the comfort level needed for the temperature.

Food

Food is simpler to manage if it can be premade and served at room temperature, warmed in an appliance such as a crockpot, or is something cooked outdoors. Items that have to be toasted lightly before being served immediately will create much more work for the hosts.

Other factors

Music, lighting, and decorations can be geared toward the tastes of the guests and hosts. This fun, underwater fountain light makes a cute addition to the pool.

Hopefully, this has given you some ideas for a successful party out by the pool that will create a memory to enjoy for years to come. Remember that guests around the pool will always need a lifeguard, especially if they bring children, which makes a designated lifeguard a must. Whether the pool will be in use or not, it should be impeccably clean on the day of the party.
